 “Joanna Tag”  Information

“Joanna Tags” showing

up all over the state!

The "Joanna Tag" is a specialty tag now available to all Georgia motorists. The tag has started appearing on vehicles all over the state after a two-year legislative and registration period.  A unique feature of the tag is the silhouette of Joanna Rae McAfee with outstretched arms.

Important “Joanna Tag” Information

There are two costs for the tag, above and beyond what you’d normally pay: There is a specialty tag manufacturing fee of $25 (one time, already paid if a tag was reserved)

Specialty tag renewal fee of $25 (paid annually, up front, due when tag is received)

Get your tag immediately

You can pick up your tag right away, regardless of whether you reserved one or not, by visiting your local tag office.  Please remember to take in your old tag. Please determine whether it makes financial sense to pay the $25 renewal fee for only part of a year.  It really depends on how long it is until your birthday and how anxious you are to get your tag.

Get your tag as part of  yearly

vehicle registration renewal

You can order your tag, regardless of whether you reserved one or not, by completing the Vehicle Registration Renewal Form sent to you by your local tag office.  The form can either be mailed or carried to your local tag office. [Click here for instructions]

Report your “Joanna Tag”sighting

Please contact us and let us know about any unique “Joanna Tag” sightings.  It was such a great feeling to finally see a “Joanna Tag” on a car driven by someone we didn’t recognize. [Click here to contact us].

 Joanna Rae McAfee

Joanna lived in Tampa, FL and Warner Robins, GA with her parents Jeff & Misty McAfee and older brother, Paul.  She was 3 1/2 years old when she was diagnosed with Stage IV Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of pediatric cancer.  She spent  half of her life undergoing one excruciating cancer treatment after another without complaint, while deeply touching many lives with her sweet spirit, amazing determination and childlike faith.   On December 22, 2005, our sweet Joanna took her last breath and left this Earth and her suffering behind.  What a beautiful, wonderful child our world was blessed with for six years!   [more of Joanna’s Story...]

Though the updates have become less frequent, we still maintain Joanna’s Caringbridge site with journal entries kept during her courageous fight, guest book entries from many special people, and more pictures.  We will forever love talking and writing about Joanna.  She could be such a little entertaining character one moment, then a mature precious child, wise beyond her years, the next. She was one of the best parts of our lives and forever will be.

Your prayers are very much appreciated, as we try to smile & continue through our days as we promised Joanna we would. We have found that few things help us more than being together and pouring our hearts into this foundation. We are sincerely grateful for your support.

Featured Middle Georgia Hero

Cody McDuffie

Cody is 14 and lives in Warner Robins, GA.  Cody was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on November 30, 2006. When diagnosed, an enormous mass encased his heart & esophagus and resulting fluid accumulation almost crushed his right lung.  During initial chemotherapy, Cody suffered from many severe complications and almost lost his  life twice due to kidney failure.

Each month, Cody makes two to three trips to Atlanta where he is treated at the Egleston Children’s Hospital AFLAC Cancer Center.  Cody lives in Warner Robins, GA with his parents, Wanda & Billie McDuffie, and older brother, Jon (19).  He is a eighth grade student at Feagin Mill Middle School in Warner Robins, where he was recently able to return.

He likes reading, loves animals, and has future plans of becoming a veterinarian. Due to his high-risk status, Cody faces an extremely tough three-year treatment plan. But, the treatment and prayers seem to be working because Cody’s original tumor is no longer visible on PET scans!

Cody & family have been through so much during his most recent struggles.  What a courageous young man he is! What a courageous family! Please keep Cody and his family in your prayers incessantly. Pray for continued strength and endurance …and, as always, a cure.
